Ir Professor C.C.Chan is an international known expert in electric vehicles, electric machines and electric drives. He was recipient of IEE International Lecture Medal in 2000; Asia’s Best Technology Pioneer in 2001; named as “The Father of Asian Electric Vehicles” by magazine “Global View” in 2003; named as “Pitamaha (grandfather) of Electric Vehicle Technology” in India in 2006; awarded “Environmental Excellence in Transportation” by the Society of Automotive Engineers in 2007. “China Automobile Industry Character” by Societies of Automotive Industry in 2008; Gold Medal by Hong Kong Institution of Engineers in 2010; Outstanding Third Age Citizens Award by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service in 2011; World Federation of Engineering (WFEO) Medal of Engineering Excellence in 2013; Royal Academy of Engineering Prince Philip Medal in 2014; Touching China Character in 2022. He published 11 books, over 450 technical papers and 9 patents. He serves as visiting professor at major universities including UC Berkeley, MIT, University of Cambridge, senior advisor to government agencies, and independent director of several public companies.
